The first thing I would say, which I say for a lot of people, is to work on anatomy. Look up guides on proportions, including facial proportions; there are tons on the Internet. For hands, look at your own. :D That's the easiest way to do it. If (like me) you don't want to go by realistic proportions, look at how manga artists draw and use their art as a reference. This doesn't look too bad, though.
